James, a knowledge-thirsty penguin from the South Pole traveling around the world, meets the polar bear Vladimir in the icy world of the North Pole. The two become friends and tell each other about their homeland. Together they look at the stars and wonder about the length of the polar nights
James and the ingenious engineer Vladimir build a spaceship. During a space journey around the Earth, they discover Mars and Saturn. They discover that planets have a lot in common, but are also different. Finally, they also find the answer to why the nights last so long or are so short.
